Dota 2 'Frostivus 2023' Event Now Live

Dota 2 players will have their hands full during the Holiday Season with the arrival of Patch 7.35. This update includes massive balancing adjustments and quality-of-life improvements. More importantly, this update marks the beginning of the "Frostivus 2023" event where players can get their hands on Holiday-themed skins just by playing the game!

'Tis the Season to Be Jolly

The Frostivus Event 2023 for Dota 2 is now live. There is a Frostivus Spirit Meter that players can fill up by winning matches. Once it's full, players can earn Frostivus Treasure Chests, which they can open by purchasing special keys. These keys cost $2.49 each, so those who want to get the contents of the treasure chests must be willing to spend some money. At the time of writing, there is currently no way of obtaining the keys other than buying them from the store.

Anyway, there are a lot of amazing skins and items that are up for grabs. One of the most notable is the "King Kringle" Arcana for the Wraith King. This is pretty iconic as the Wraith King himself sits down on his throne with a huge green glowing sword that looks like a Christmas tree.

Fans of the Crystal Maiden will definitely want to get their hands on the new "Guardian Snow Angel" Persona for the said hero. For those who don't know, "Personas" in Dota 2 are a class of cosmetic items that completely re-imagines a hero with a brand new model and custom animations to boot.

Couriers are a huge part of Dota 2. These small creatures can deliver items the players have purchased, which can help turn the tide of battle. To ensure that players feel the holiday spirit, Valve is bringing back the infamous Gingerbread Baby Roshan in Frostivus 2023!

Here are the other goodies players can get from this year's Frostivus Treasure Chests:

  • "Silent Wight" skin for Ancient Apparition

  • "Silver Squall" skin for Snapfire

  • "Lumpo and Rupertus" skin for Alchemist

  • "Orbuculum Equinox" skin for Arc Warden

  • "Frosty the Sew-Man" Persona for Pudge

  • "Jingle Fist" skin for Tusk

  • "The Abominable Snowbeast" skin for Primal Beast

Massive Changes

Aside from the amazing goodies for the Frostivus 2023 event, Patch 7.35 brought significant changes to the game. For one, players will now know who the tower is targeting via a straight red line. Besides that, players now have an idea of how long it takes before they can teleport back to safety.

Items are a huge deal in Dota 2. While pros do not have a problem deciding which items to buy because they already know their use, new players still need some guidance. To ensure that the game is enjoyable for everyone, Valve has made improvements to the item tooltips to provide more information. This is great because this allows beginners to know which items are best for their heroes.

The company has also enhanced the Armory to make it easier to use. For instance, players can now search for specific cosmetics just by typing in the keyword in the top portion of the UI.

Dota 2 Patch 7.35 is available on PC.
