The Day Before, the game that was marketed as an MMO survival title but turned out to be an extraction shooter, seems to be a hot topic again as of late. That's because its Steam Keys are being sold for hundreds of dollars.
Too Expensive for a Dead Game
For those who do not know, The Day Before got delisted from Steam just recently. That means that no person can buy the game directly from the platform anymore and for good reason.
Developer Fntastic shut the game's development down several days after its release. So understandably, people are upset, especially those who spent $40 to gain early access.
At one point, it was the most wishlisted game on Steam. Many people were anticipating its arrival. However, with the game being delayed multiple times and after settling trade disputes, to say that the game has underperformed is an understatement.
It launched in a poor state. The game was riddled with bugs and players who bought it clearly did not get their money's worth. As a result, the game garnered "Overwhelmingly Negative" reviews from both players and critics alike.
But, as with everything in life, whenever something is no longer readily available, its value tends to skyrocket, and it seems that that is the case for this embattled zombie extraction shooter.
Green Man Gaming, a platform that typically sells games at a discount, is currently selling Steam Keys for The Day Before, with the price set at $233.97 for the cheapest and more than $300 for the expensive ones.
Steam Keys are essentially a ticket to download and install a game from Steam even if they are delisted or no longer for sale.

Fell for It
Over on Reddit, some people have claimed that they have already purchased the overpriced Steam Keys, though it is unclear if they got it from Green Man Gaming or from somewhere else.
Redditor @Superfluous_GGG claimed that they already paid for it, and even went on to say that they were an idiot for doing so. While it has the trappings of someone who is just trolling, it is funny that they actually fell for it.
Another Redditor is furious about the current situation. They said that the gaming community is partly to be blamed for this. "Work smarter not harder has become the main mantra, so much so, that you can even be told years ahead something is a scam and people still buy it," they added.
Despite getting delisted, The Day Before can still be played indefinitely. Fntastic wrote in their epic statement that the servers are still operational, so those who have purchased the game, whether it be directly on the platform or via Steam Keys, can still explore it if they want to.
Now, to put it simply, The Day Before is a scam. Not only is the game not what was promised, but Fntastic didn't even give enough effort to make it work. Hopefully, other gaming development companies will not follow suit.
