Blizzard Teases Dragonriding in More Areas in World of Warcraft 'Seeds of Renewal'

The latest content update for World of Warcraft: Dragonflight will be released next week. However, Blizzard has provided a glimpse of what Dragonriding looks like in the old areas of the game in a recent video.

Dragonriding in Azeroth

Dragonriding, for those who do not know, is a mechanic in World of Warcraft that was introduced in the Dragonflight expansion. This enables players to utilize dragons to fly more vigorously in the air. This is so great that players can improve their flying experience with dedicated Dragonriding talents as well.

Having said that, Blizzard has recently teased what Dragonriding will look like once players are able to fly in different areas of Azeroth come Patch 10.2.5, otherwise known as the "Seeds of Renewal" update.

In the video, the character can be seen flying over iconic places in World of Warcraft, including major faction cities like Stormwind and Orgrimmar, and old explorable zones like the Barrens and the Plaguelands. The teaser showcases what Dragonriding looks like when players go near the Sword of Sargeras - one of the iconic points of interest in the game located in the scorching sands of Silithus.

Now, there are a few things to take note of before players can take their dragon mounts and fly in style in the old zones of World of Warcraft. First, players must still unlock Dragonriding to use the feature. Second, players must be at least level 60 to engage in Dragonriding in Azeroth. And third, Dragonriding speed is capped at only 85% when done outside of the Dragon Isles. The last one is ok considering that it is still faster than the normal flying mount speed.

The teaser was actually well-received by the community. Over on X/Twitter, user stojanovicm11 said that Dragonriding in the old world is still quite fast despite the cap of 85%.

User RektGaming4 expressed their excitement over the upcoming feature. They said that based on their research, players can literally reach Stranglethorn Vale from the Undercity in less than a minute. However, they said that they are going to test the feature when it becomes available to see if this is really the case.

Another user cannot wait for Seeds of Renewal to come. "Already have some flight paths planned out! From the top of High Mountain into Stormheim," said MatrixOvershock.

Not for Everyone

While others have expressed their excitement over the notion of Dragonriding in the old zones of World of Warcraft, some players are not at all too happy about it.

User Ivanikilus said that this feature will forever ruin the game. "And with this, the world is truly dead, thank you for forever killing exploration," they said.

"Not a fan of dragonriding. Glad the original flying is still there and that it's in the next expansion too," said Dreamer_Ysera.

Dragonriding in Azeroth will be available once the Seeds of Renewal update goes live on 16.
