The Season 1 Reloaded patch for the popular first-person shooter Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 added a new attachment that is so good that Sledgehammer Games put a major downside to it. Players can utilize this new attachment to their advantage, though most pros shy away from it. Why is that?

Overpowered Attachment?

The attachment in question is none other than the new JAK BFB. This can be used in most weapons in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. What makes it great is that it heavily reduces weapon recoil when hip-firing or aiming down sights (ADS).

Players who have used it can attest to how well it can reduce weapon recoil significantly. For instance, the Sidewinder, considered by many as the "worst" battle rifle in the game because of its ridiculous recoil, can be tamed by the JAK BFB Muzzle without a problem.

Too Risky

So, with an attachment that can help players control even the worst guns in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, surely there are some downsides to it, right? Absolutely! In fact, the downsides are equally so severe that some players actually shy away from it entirely.

Redditor OriginalXVI posted a video about the Jak BFB's apparent downside. Basically, when a player who is using the said attachment is firing, they will show up as a red dot on the minimap with a directional arrow. Why is this a huge deal?

It is a huge deal because opposing players will know exactly how to approach the gunner in a way that is more favorable to them. This is especially true in pro play where every bit of information can be used to one's advantage.

Players who would like to utilize it, but do not want to suffer from the downside, can still enjoy the new attachment by playing Hardcore Mode because the minimap is disabled.

Not Too Bothered

While the pros certainly have qualms about using the JAK BFB, some players are unbothered by its downside mainly because of how useful the attachment is.

Redditor Paladin_G opines that the recoil reduction provided by the JAK BFB is a game-changer, especially on smaller maps.

Another Redditor said that based on their experience, the directional indicator doesn't really give too much of an advantage to the enemy team.
