The Callisto Protocol Dev Bounces Back with Unreal Engine 5 Project in the Pipeline

In 2019, Striking Distance Studios emerged on the gaming scene with The Callisto Protocol, a highly anticipated horror game considered by many as the spiritual successor to Dead Space. However, the game's release was met with mixed reviews and a lukewarm reception, raising questions about the studio's future. Last summer, amid disappointing performance, the founder and CEO, Glen Schofield, resigned, and layoffs were announced.

New Unreal Engine 5 Project Underway

Contrary to speculation about the studio's demise, recent developments suggest that Striking Distance Studios is actively working on a new game using Unreal Engine 5. Although no official announcement has been made, job listings on the company's website confirm the existence of an unannounced UE5 title.

These job descriptions were first highlighted on Twitter by MauroNL, shedding light on the studio's ongoing efforts to create a fresh gaming experience.

Silent Progress Sparks Speculation

Given The Callisto Protocol's underwhelming performance, the likelihood of a sequel seemed dim. However, Striking Distance Studios appears to be pivoting towards a completely new project. While details about the upcoming game remain scarce, the studio has not issued any public statements regarding its plans.

Despite the previous game's criticism, Striking Distance Studios managed to redeem The Callisto Protocol through post-launch improvements, indicating the team's commitment to delivering quality gaming experiences. The revelation of an Unreal Engine 5 project reaffirms the studio's dedication to innovation and suggests a willingness to learn from past challenges.
