Hello and welcome to yet another #SteamSpotlight feature! If you're a fan of adventure games as well as card-based role-playing games (RPGs), you're definitely going to want to know more about the game we're featuring.

Before we get to that, here's a short explanation on what #SteamSpotlight is. It's a feature series we do here in Game N Guide that shines the spotlight on the many games available on Steam!

For today's feature, we're shining the spotlight on a card-based adventure game that gives you a closer look at Slavic folklore.

Without further ado, here's Black Book.

Released on August 11, 2021, Black Book is developed by Morteshka and published by HypeTrain Digital. As previously mentioned, it is a card-based adventure game. You take on the role of Vasilisa, a young sorceress whose betrothed dies amidst unusual circumstances.

In the midst of her grief, Vasilisa seeks what is known as the Black Book, a demonic artifact said to be able to grant a wish to anyone who uncovers its seven seals. The game focuses on her journey to uncover all the seals while confrontin demons and helping out strangers along the way.

Slavic Mythology

Black Book takes inspiration from Slavic mythology, so you can expect to encounter numerous folktales as you play the game. There is also an in-game encyclopedia that helps you understand the myths more, which was created with the help of expert anthropologists.

Steam Reviews for Black Book

Black Book has more than 5,000 user reviews on Steam as of press time. These reviews are generally described as "Very Positive" by Steam. 

"Rich story with good voice acting that really give life to the character," user MONDAY said in a Steam review. "Card battle is quite good as well, more variation or op deck can be built at later stage of the game." 

Artie asks in a separate review, "Engaging and extremely atmospheric story, choices that matter and multiple variants to build your deck of spells - what's not to like about this cozy stylish game?"
