Riot Games deployed a new update for League of Legends: Wild Rift and it is pretty good. Patch 5.0a brought a lot of changes, including one that affects how players will find matches from now on.

Change in Matchmaking

Patch 5.0a implemented a change in matchmaking where the outcome of a match now plays a crucial role in matchmaking accuracy. This means that if players lose a couple of games, for example, they will be paired up with those with a similar streak.

According to Riot Games, this was implemented as a way to optimize the system for "edge cases." What the company probably meant by this is that there are certain situations where players should not have been paired with those who are out of their league (no pun intended).

Upcoming Events

A few exciting things are coming to League of Legends: Wild Rift this month. On February 8, players are invited to the Lunar Extravaganza - an event where they will have a chance to earn the "Lunar Guardian" skin for the game's resident big boy, Aurelion Sol! This is in celebration of the Year of the Dragon.

Up next, Riot is set to bring back a fan-favorite game mode called the "Arena." Those who are anticipating its return don't have to wait long because it will arrive on February 12.

And lastly, a new champion is going to be introduced on February 22 and that is none other than the Blade's Shadow, Talon! Adopted by the notorious Du Couteau family, the new champion can assassinate enemies or anyone foolish enough to challenge him to a duel!
