Helldivers 2 is now available on both PC and PlayStation 5. This is a third-person, squad-based shooter developed by Arrowhead Game Studios. Although this game has been quite popular since it launched yesterday, it seems that it needs a bit more optimization, especially when it comes to its servers.

Massive Post Launch Issues

Hours after the game's launch, many Helldivers 2 players have experienced issues with the game's servers. Some players either cannot log into the game or those who managed to enter have experienced frequent disconnections.

Some players have speculated that the frequent disconnections, at least for the PC version, might be caused by GameGuard -  an anti-cheating rootkit that prevents bad actors from initiating hacks that can ruin the game.

That said, players took it upon themselves to rectify the situation somewhat by doing certain steps, such as deleting the Gameguard folder and running the game as administrator.

Company Responds

Although players have done things to somehow improve the stability of Helldivers 2 on PC, it seems that they are no longer needed as Arrowhead Game Studio has already issued a hotfix.

The company is well aware of the issues and has responded promptly to address them. Mikael Eriksson, Game Director for Helldivers 2, tweeted that a patch has been released on Steam that improves matchmaking for those who are playing the game on PC. Besides that, the small update comes with crash fixes that might be helpful in improving the overall stability of the game.

While PC players can rejoice that a patch is now available to address some post-launch issues, it seems that PlayStation 5 users will have to wait a bit longer.

Some PS5 users posted on X/Twitter that they are still having problems with the game. User Cybercornflake said that they are having trouble with matchmaking as it just does not work on the said platform. "Quick play is not working at all, just running around in the maps on my own at the moment," they added.

Another user is frustrated that gaming companies, including Arrowhead Game Studios, are treating console players as "second class" and not worth their immediate time and attention.

With the company's swift action in addressing some issues on PC, PlayStation 5 users might get the same update very soon.
