Bottoms up, space miners! The February Maintenance update for Deep Rock Galactic has just dropped. After much speculation, we finally know what the new beer flavor does when consumed. Read further to learn the details.

Enjoy the New Beverage

After the Deep Rock Galactic developers teased a new flavored beer last week, fans of the game have speculated what this new beverage can do once it is consumed. Well, the beer in question is called the Hidden Dwarf Double IPA. Those who are interested in getting some can head to the Abyss Bar for some pints!

Although the patch notes did not disclose its actual effects, the short video provides a glimpse of what the beer can do. Apparently, consuming the Hidden Dwarf Double IPA turns players into objects, particularly a refrigerator and a chest of sorts.

Now, it is unclear whether players can turn into other objects after chugging down a pint of this new beverage, but at least, players who want to have a bit of fun fooling around can enjoy the Hidden Dwarf Double IPA!

Armor Modifications and Weapon Tweaks

So, what other interesting things have been added in the February Maintenance update for Deep Rock Galactic? Well, the developers have made some changes to the way heavy armor works.

Heavy armor, such as the ones worn by the Praetorians, now scales better with Hazard Level. This means that the higher the Hazard level, the tougher the heavy armor will be. This is just so that heavy armor now scales consistently just like light armor in Deep Rock Galactic.

To make sure that players have a way to cut through the heavy armor after the recent change, the developers have also made some tweaks to the "Armor Breaking" modification on weapons. More specifically, projectile weapons like the Hurricane Guided Rocket System and Deepcore 40mm PGL not only have the power to destroy heavy armor, but they also deal full damage to the "squishy" bug underneath the tough exterior.

Highlights

WEAPONS

  • Fixed Hyper Propellant OC working incorrectly with T4A Homebrew Explosive mod. This mod was only supposed to affect the actual explosion, therefore these changes have been made to make it more clear:

    • The 'Homebrew Explosive' mode has been changed to only affect radial damage on the weapon's projectile.

    • Therefore, it should no longer affect upgrades that do direct damage, such as the Spiky Grenade modification or the direct damage of the Hyper Propellant OC.

    • Prior to the change, Homebrew Explosive had no effect on neither direct nor area damage of Hyper Propellant.

  • Fixed a bug with the Cryo Cannon's T5A 'Fragile' mod, where shattered enemies didn't die as expected on higher hazards

  • Fixed a bug causing the Shard Diffractor's 'Bio-Mass Converter' mod to not work for clients

  • Fixed a bug with the Turret Arc OC where the electric damage bonus from Gemini turrets didn't cause any additional damage when used with some other weapons

  • Fixed a bug causing Turret EM Discharge OC to not proc at certain angles

  • Fixed a bug that caused the Stubby's 'Upgraded Capacitors' mod to roll two proc attempts with a 25% chance, instead of one roll with a 50% chance to proc. Basically, now there's a higher chance to proc the electric effect

QUALITY OF LIFE

  • Experience earned for Weapon Maintenance skin rewards now carries over to other unlock levels. Now you can earn everything without having to check in and 'redeem' stuff you've already unlocked.

  • The menu's Audio tab now has a 'Steam settings' button for easier access to Steam's own audio settings

  • Adding a small monitor near the Assignment Board that displays a countdown until a current seasonal event ends. This will first be visible during this year's Anniversary Event. More on that real soon!

So, what can you say about the February Maintenance update for Deep Rock Galactic? Are you going to chug down a pint of the Hidden Dwarf Double IPA anytime soon?
