World of Warcraft Bans Player Over Default-Named Carrion Bird Pet

World of Warcraft Bans Player Over Default-Named Carrion Bird Pet

World of Warcraft (WoW) recently slapped a ban on a Hunter player for a pretty basic reason - their Carrion Bird pet still had the default name. While this might sound like a joke, it left WoW fans scratching their heads and annoyed about the whole situation.

Blizzard's Serious Ban Streak

Blizzard, the folks behind WoW, have been going hard on banning players for breaking the rules. They've been booting accounts left and right in January for things like cheating and using bots, and they didn't ease up in February, especially in Hearthstone.

This recent ban of a WoW Classic player, known as Nobuuudy, seems a bit over the top. Nobuuudy got an email saying they were banned because other players reported the default name "Carrion Bird'' as not okay. This makes us wonder if Blizzard's automatic banning system is maybe a bit too trigger-happy.

WoW Messes Up on Default Pet Name Ban

So, why did Nobuuudy get banned? Some players think it's because others mistook them for a gold farmer - someone trying to make in-game money fast. Others blame it on Blizzard's recent layoffs affecting their customer service, which might be causing mistakes in their automatic banning system.

People on Reddit had mixed reactions. Some made jokes about the situation, while others got mad at Blizzard for the weird banning choices. Most agreed that Nobuuudy didn't do anything wrong and should probably get their account back.

WoW Hunters' Bumpy Ban History

This isn't the first time WoW Hunters got banned for kinda silly reasons. Comments on the Reddit post showed that Hunters got the boot for default pet names as far back as five years ago. Some even got mistaken for bots, like when a 70-year-old WoW Hunter got banned because he was wrongly thought to be a gold farmer.
