Developers Given 60 Days' Notice

The developers associated with Adult Swim Games have received notifications about the retirement of their titles from digital stores as reported by Polygon. One such developer, Michael Molinari, the creator of Soundodger+, revealed that he was informed of the impending removal of his game from Steam within the next 60 days.

Molinari expressed uncertainty about the nature of the removal, stating, "I don't know if they're delisting it or deleting it." Despite his attempts to retain ownership, Molinari was denied the transfer of his game and expressed frustration over the lack of cooperation from Warner Bros. Discovery. He highlighted the simple process of transferring ownership and pleaded for the company to consider it.

Developers Face Challenges in Retaining Ownership

Matt Lewandowski of Team2Bit and Owen Reedy, creator of Small Radios Big Televisions, faced similar challenges when attempting to regain control of their respective titles. Lewandowski sought to transfer ownership of the studio's game First Puncher but was met with resistance from Warner Bros., citing "logistical and resource constraints" as the reason for the denial.

Owen Reedy took a different approach, making the Windows PC version of his game Small Radios Big Televisions available for free on social media as a response to the retirement notice. This move reflects the frustration among developers who are not only losing their titles but also facing restrictions on retaining ownership and control over their creations.

The decisions made by Warner Bros. Discovery have raised concerns within the gaming community, as developers grapple with the potential loss of wishlists, reviews, and community engagement associated with their games. The requirement to remove all mentions of Adult Swim Games and alter credits sequences adds an additional layer of complexity for those considering independent republishing.
