Mass Effect 5 Project Director Confirms Trilogy Vets are Part of New Game's Development Team

Mass Effect 5 Project Director Confirms Trilogy Vets are Part of New Game's Development Team

Mass Effect 5's project director, Michael Gamble, confirmed that the new game's development team includes veterans from the original trilogy.

The new title has become the talk of the town recently as BioWare published a series of cryptic messages late last year and released a short teaser that was shown in segments. While there was not much information initially available, the development was exciting for fans of the legendary sci-fi franchise.

This comes after the relatively uneventful release of Mass Effect Andromeda in 2017 which left fans skeptical about the final shape of the latest installment in the franchise. This was particularly true due to the impacts of recent delays that also pushed back Dragon Age: Dreadwolf.

In a post on Twitter, Gamble answered a fan's question regarding the team that was working on Mass Effect 5. He confirmed that the new installment's executive producer, art director, creative director, and game director are all veterans of the original trilogy, according to Insider Gaming.

The confirmation was definitely seen as good news by fans as the franchise's original trilogy is considered to be one of the best series in gaming history. There were a few details revealed about Mass Effect 5 in a series of teaser clips and some concept art.

There were a few references to the Andromeda galaxy, a new helmeted N7 character who sports a cool coat, some snapshots of alien races that are familiar to the franchise, and a few images of ships.

It was revealed last month that Mass Effect 5 was still in pre-production as the game's developer was still focusing on Dragon Age: Dreadwolf. With this being the way for quite some time, it is relatively safe to assume that the Mass Effect sequel is still far from being launched, said GamesRadar.

Going Back to Its Roots

Gamble also recently gave props to Exodus, which is the upcoming sci-fi game that was made by other former BioWare developers. He shared the game's trailer from Archetype Entertainment and said that science fiction is amazing.

The skepticism about Mass Effect 5 was fueled by a variety of factors, including the disastrous launch of Anthem. This and others have caused fans of the franchise to doubt that BioWare will be able to replicate its success with the original trilogy.

Interest in BioWare's sci-fi franchise has come back in the past few years, partly due to the positive reception to the remastered Mass Effect: Legendary Edition. Despite the string of layoffs, the developer is expected to debut a deep dive into its upcoming game, Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, sometime in 2024.

The creative director of the next Mass Effect game, Marc Walters, also wished that Mass Effect Andromeda had a sequel. It is quite possible for a continuation of the story due to both games' galaxies being shown during the N7 Day teaser.

However, other than information about Liara's apparent involvement in the main story or the feature of an N7 protagonist, not much else is known about the direction that Mass Effect 5 will take, according to GameRant.
