Cozy LIfe MMO Palia Celebrates Steam Launch With a Giant Stuffed Frog

Cozy life MMO Palia is celebrating its Steam launch and welcomes new players into the game with a giant stuffed frog.

The game is a farming and community sim MMO that has been in open beta since August 2023. But with the new Steam launch, the game's player base is expected to grow and it will continue to be free-to-play while still in early access.

With the end of the scheduled patch downtime, players can download Palia on Steam to either jump into the world for the first time or sign into their old account. What is important to note with the new patch is that players will be able to redeem the massive stuffed frog in-game, the Frogbert plush, from the wish list campaign that the game's developer, Singularity 6, was running.

For the players who are only now getting into the world of Palia, it is important to know that it works pretty similar to other Stardew Valley-like farming and life sims but is played online. Players will be able to farm, cook, and romance villages while also seeing other players in the area, according to PCGamer.

The game steps away from daily energy and progression through seasons to bring levels to various skills and give players a chance to earn money to expand and customize their home and plot for friends to visit.

On top of Palia's Steam launch, the game also released a list of update 0.178 patch notes, including new features and a variety of bug fixes. The major item in the list is a new part of the game's story and main quest that players can find in the new Temple of the Roots.

Another new feature that many players are looking out for is the option to grow flowers around player houses. The update also lets caught bugs drop a flower seed which can be planted on players' lots.

New Features and Bug Fixes

The largest part of the update, quite literally, Frogbert, was a prize for the community working on the wish list campaign. The developer promised that the size of the plush would become bigger depending on the total number of wish lists that the game received ahead of the Steam launch.

Each temple in the game features a series of quests that would let players open up bundles of collective goods once completed. Those who are able to find all of the bundled items will earn a plethora of rewards, including a new cosmetic for their home or a new fish entering the ecosystem, said Polygon.

Singularity 6 also shared a roadmap for the development of Palia, showcasing new building blocks and structures, a new level of friendship to earn with villagers, pathways and walkways for your players' plot, and a map grid for easier coordination.

Another set of new additions in the latest update is a batch of furniture, the Spring Fever set. This has a number of new items that will be available from Badruu's shop. Among these are the garden edges, new Spring Fever rock and wood edging, according to MMORPG.
