No Man's Sky Creator Teases Potential New Update Coming to the Game

No Man's Sky's Creator, Sean Murray, Teases New Update With Tweets Featuring an Emoji

No Man's Sky's creator, Sean Murray, teased another potential update coming to the game only a month after the launch of the Omega update.

Murray posted a series of social media messages that feature a particular emoji that suggests the new update is coming. The news comes as No Man's Sky has a remarkably long list of free content updates that have been released over the past seven years.

This makes it extremely difficult to figure out just what developer Hello Games has in store for players this time around. The game's development has remained strong throughout its life and the free updates have significantly improved the game and transformed public perception into a more positive note.

The game's popularity and player count have steadily snowballed over the last few years alongside frequent updates that have come out. Many of these have featured multiplayer community expeditions and limited-time Twitch campaigns.

While the game's Omega update was only just released midway through February, Murray's suggestions make it sound like a new content drop is coming our way. The first hint came through a tweet that contained a single shooting star emoji, according to GameRant.

Many veterans of the game recognize such "emoji tweets" as signs of an incoming content update for No Man's Sky. They also noted that the emoji in question somehow relates to the theme of the upcoming update.

This theory creates a lot of leeway for speculation from the game's community and fans' excitement has only built up after the game's creator repeated the emoji in subsequent tweets. The emoji could mean a lot of things in a game such as No Man's Sky.

However, a trailer that was shown last year at The Game Awards that celebrated No Man's Sky's seven years provided fans with a hint as to what could be coming this year. The footage ended with what appeared to be an entirely new space station design, featuring an interior that is different from those that are currently found in the game.

The Omega Update

The potential new content drop comes after the Omega update overhauled expeditions by improving the gear and ships that players are given at the start. It also made several other changes outside of the game mode, such as allowing players to steal from any pirate freighters that they defeat by boarding them instead, said The Gamer.

It is currently not yet known when the new update could come to No Man's Sky but the Omega update came only a few days after Murray started teasing the community with emojis. This means that the new patch could come soon but there is no guarantee.

The previous Omega update also added on-planet missions that are procedurally generated quests that players can initiate by talking to alien lifeforms known as Travelers that can be found roaming on the surfaces of various planets.

It also implemented core changes that include a revised Atlas Path quest line that now rewards a new Atlas staff, jetpack, and helmet. The game now has 12 expeditions and Hello Games plans to cycle through each one every month, according to Eurogamer.
