NetEase Games released a new trailer announcing its new 6v6 shooter game that was made in collaboration with Marvel and is known as Marvel Rivals which brings fan-favorite superheroes, including Iron Man, Hulk, and Loki into the fray.

The new title is completely free-to-play and is a third-person team shooter that has destructible arenas. One of the things that stands out from the newly released trailer is that players will have the option of using the "Team-Up" ability where two characters will work together to fire super-charged attacks.

The footage also showed some classic, obvious combos, such as for Iron Man and Hulk, where the former can use the latter's gamma energy to unleash a powerful energy beam. Rocket the Raccoon can also be seen riding on Groot's back while firing at enemies from a distance.

Two other characters, Luna Snow and Namor, can be seen doing a Team-Up attack, dealing devastating damage to their enemies. Despite the release of the trailer, it is still unclear whether or not the Team-Up abilities will be limited to certain characters or if any hero can partner up with anyone else, according to Rock Paper Shotgun.

NetEase Games also announced that the characters who can be seen across Avengers, Guardians Of The Galaxy, X-Men, and wider Marvelverse will become playable in Marvel Rivals. Also, the game's alpha test will have more than a dozen characters to choose from, including Black Panther, Spider-Man, Magneto, and Magik.

Every single one of Marvel Rivals' maps will also feature destructible elements that NetEase Games said will create "ever-changing battlefields." However, if the first footage is to be believed, this could not be as game-changing as it is hyped up to be.

However, the developer did add that players will be able to take cover to dodge enemies' attacks and use makeshift weapons. This suggests that terrain changes will feel much more impactful when you are in the middle of the fight.

The other characters that will be included in the alpha test are Doctor Strange, Loki, Mantis, Peni Parker, Scarlet Witch, Storm, Star-Lord, and The Punisher. NetEase Games said that the game will let players assemble an ever-evolving all-star squad to battle others within destructible maps from across the Marvel Multiverse, said Variety.

The game's description says that Marvel Rivals' storyline was crafted by the NetEase writing team and will feature a merciless clash between the tyrannical dictator Doctor Doom and his future counterpart from the year 2099. This has forced countless universes to collide in the Timestream Entanglement and led to the creation of new worlds and crises still unknown.

Head of Marvel Games Jay Ong said that Marvel Rivals is one of their most ambitious game development projects. He noted that since the conceptualization of the game and throughout the collaboration with NetEase Games, they poured their hearts and souls into the development of the game.

Marvel Rivals comes as Overwatch 2 has seemingly fallen from grace, which is why this might be the perfect chance to come out as a hero shooter. This is also true for Gigantic, which is coming back after its initial run from 2017 to 2018, according to Kotaku.
