Will Destiny 2's Timegated Weapons Spoil Into The Light Event? Players Worried

The anticipation surrounding Destiny 2's upcoming Into The Light update has been tempered by concerns over its timegated weapon distribution system. This feature, revealed by Bungie in yesterday's TWID, has left many players questioning the game's direction and their own enjoyment of the event.

Excitement Fades as Timegating Strategy Unveiled

The Into The Light update promises to reintroduce some of Destiny 2's most beloved weapons, with refreshed perk pools to entice players old and new. This prospect had sparked excitement among the community, offering a renewed incentive to engage with the game's content.

However, the revelation that these weapons will be gradually released over several weeks has dampened this enthusiasm. Bungie's decision to stagger the distribution, with only half of the weapons available initially and the remainder unlocking weekly, has drawn criticism from players.

Player Concerns and Critiques

For many players, timegating represents an anti-consumer practice that detracts from the gaming experience. Instead of allowing players to engage with the content at their own pace, timegating forces them to adhere to the developer's schedule, disrupting the natural flow of gameplay.

Some within the community have expressed frustration at what they perceive as an attempt to artificially inflate the game's retention rate. By compelling players to return week after week to obtain all the weapons, Bungie risks alienating segments of its player base who prefer a more flexible approach to gaming.
