Hollow Knight: Silksong Rated in South Korea After April Fools' Day Xbox Store Listing

Hollow Knight: Silksong got a rating in South Korea after it appeared on the Xbox store on April Fools' Day alongside other fake listings and jokes by game developers.

The rating itself was supposedly made back in February earlier this year but was only seen following the game's Xbox store listing. Fans quickly took to social media platforms to share the news, sparking talks about the upcoming title that has been in development for five years now.

The game was first announced in February 2019 and is set to become available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. The game's developer, Team Cherry, said that Hollow Knight: Silksong will include a lot of new content.

These are a brand new kingdom, more than 150 different enemies to defeat, and a Silk Soul mode. This is a new difficult setting that significantly changes the game after the first playthrough. The game will have players take control of Hornet, a "princess-protector of Hallownest," according to VideoGamesChronicles.

Hollow Knight: Silksong will have players adventure through a kingdom that is "ruled by silk and song." The game's official blurb reads, "Captured and brought to this unfamiliar world, Hornet must battle foes and solve mysteries as she ascends on a deadly pilgrimage to the kingdom's peak."

The game's listing on the Xbox store was met with doubt as many fans of the franchise were skeptical of its authenticity amid the slew of fake news on April Fools' Day. Despite the development, Hollow Knight: Silksong still does not have an officially confirmed release date.

However, its rating in South Korea could give fans of the series a little bit more hope as they wait for official announcements regarding the title's development. Xbox product marketing manager Tao Sila posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, saying that the store listing for the game was not an April Fools' Day joke.

Many others, including the person who is responsible for marketing and publishing at Team Cherry, also posted the link to the Xbox store page, noting its authenticity. While the game was already listed on store pages on Steam, PlayStation, and Nintendo, its new addition to the Xbox store gives hope of a release on Game Pass, said Kotaku.

The rating that was revealed through the Xbox store page listing showed that it had an ESRB rating. However, the Everyone 10+ rating is not the most interesting detail as it is the same that was given to the first title in the franchise.

But based on the timing of past ESRB ratings in relation to a game's release, it typically suggests that a game is already close to being finished. However, even if that was the case, the final process of polishing the title could still take several months.

Many fans have taken to Reddit to celebrate the recent news about Hollow Knight: Silksong as they have been eagerly waiting for an update to the latest title in the franchise, according to GamesRadar.
