XP System Update Favors Group Play
The recent tweak to Modern Warfare 3's XP system awards more experience points to players who join larger groups. With each additional member added to the party, the XP boost escalates, providing an incentive for players to team up. While this alteration aims to promote collaboration and social gaming, it inadvertently disadvantages solo players who prefer to play independently.
Backlash from the Solo Community
On platforms like the MW3 subreddit, solo players have expressed frustration and disappointment with the new XP system. Many argue that facing off against coordinated teams already puts solo players at a disadvantage, and the added XP boost exacerbates this issue. Some have even voiced regret over purchasing the Season 2 battle pass due to these changes.
Lack of Countermeasures and Community Building
One of the concerns raised is the absence of a dedicated Mercenary playlist, which historically allowed solo players to compete exclusively against other solo players. Without such a feature, parties hold even more sway in multiplayer matches, leaving solo players with limited options. Additionally, the practice of disbanding lobbies after each match hampers opportunities for players to build relationships and form parties, further isolating solo players.
