The "impossible" Super Mario Maker level that was made by a player and uploaded illegitimately using Tool Assisted Speedrun software (TAS) has been beaten after more than 280,000 tries.
The endeavor to complete all of the game's player-uploaded levels began a few years ago and made headlines after Nintendo announced the inevitable shutdown of the game's servers. The group behind the effort is Team 0%, which has been on a years-long journey to 100% the game like a completionist.
Beating Trimming the Herbs

The major issue came when the level known as Trimming the Herbs was tried and found to have required near-perfect inputs to beat despite only being 17 seconds long. The community later discovered that it was uploaded with a TAS tool after the creator, Ahoyo, came out.
This means that Team 0% and the Super Mario Maker community at large had actually completed their goal a few weeks prior. But this did not prevent some players from trying to actually beat the so-called impossible level, according to GamesRadar+.
This all eventually culminated in a 13-second run that Team 0% uploaded showing player sanyx91smm2 live streaming and finishing the level. It shows him running through Trimming the Herbs flawlessly before gasping in disbelief for a full minute at what had just been accomplished.

Following the achievement, Team 0% proudly declared that "Super Mario Maker is complete" and will move on to beat all of the levels in the game's sequel. This comes as Nintendo will be shutting down 3DS and Wii U servers on Apr. 8, 2024, making many games lose their online functionality forever.
Trimming the Herbs is a nightmare-fuelled Super Mario Maker filled with deadly rotating sawblades that require juggling and pixel-perfect input and movement. The revelation that it was uploaded using a TAS Tool meant that the community believed it was humanly impossible to finish it.
Super Mario Maker is Complete
However, one player did not agree with this notion, sanyx91smm2 continued to try the Super Mario Maker level in an attempt to show that it can actually be beaten by a person. While the short clip may seem like it shows a quick and easy feat, the Twitch VoDs of the player showed the immense number of trial and error that were done before, said WellPlayed.
When the impossible Super Mario Maker level was found to have been disqualified from the list of levels, many fans were saddened by the seemingly for-naught efforts that went into trying to beat it. However, it seemed that dedication to finishing the level actually did bring about a gaming miracle.
Many fans quickly celebrated the feat and added to Team 0%'s goal of beating all levels that they believe can be finished by humans. Some are saying that Trimming the Herb can be added to the group's "102% run."
On top of uploading Trimming the Herbs to Super Mario Maker using a TAS tool, the creator, Ahoyo, also uploaded another seemingly impossible-to-beat level, Bombs5. Both of these require an immense amount of precision that can realistically only be beaten using a machine but have both been felled by human players, according to GameRant.
