A new "DLC-sized" Starfield mod lets players create their own colonies, build monster-sized mechs, streamline material mining, and many more!

The mod was recently released on Nexus Mods by modder TankGirl444 and is known as TGs Galactic Colonies Expanse. The creator of the mod described it as a "new DLC-sized mod" for Bethesda's 2023 space action RPG title.

The description of the mod touts that the people who will download and install it to their games will be able to "land on any world and build [their] own empire!" The modder also explained that the project took them a month to craft, adding that it expands player home and building in Starfield.

Furthermore, the new mod also greatly expands the game's Outpost mechanic and gives players a more streamlined way of mining materials by removing the need to create different outposts.

The description of TankGirl444's mod also explained that it features "fully constructed buildings that are prefabricated and buildable." This includes things such as biodomes, which allow players to plant a small piece of green on desolate and barren wasteland planets, according to IGN.

The mod also introduces a new farming system where players can farm, craft, and sell fruits and vegetables. It also lets them take care of their own livestock. The project features a new workbench known as the colony food printer, which adds new food items and recipes to Starfield.

Despite all of these additions, what is most likely the most intriguing thing about the new mod is the inclusion of functional mechs. Players who have been in Starfield for quite some time or are familiar with the events before the game will know that mechs have a place in the game's lore.

Adding a Lot of New Features

Prior to Starfield's release, Bethesda revealed that mechs were actually in the game but that they could not be used by players because they were banned after the conclusion of the Colony War. The mod brings back the mechanical monstrosities and lets players craft and use them as a defense for their outposts.

The mod comes as many fans are starting to crave more Starfield content but are not seeing any news about future updates to the game. TankGirl444 also explained that they have a lot more ideas that they plan on working on to add to the mod in the future. The modder said that they released it now just to get the word out, said The Gamer.

TankGirl444 said that the mod was meant to be a comprehensive rethink/change/addition to the outpost system, its production systems, and many other aspects of Starfield. They noted that the idea was to turn to outpost system into an immersive space colonization simulator using various elements from the game's core lore and story.

The inclusion of mechs comes with a warning from the modder, who urged players to avoid building anything too strong lest they want overpowered protectors lording over them. The modder said that the new defenses range in power from "mid-sized" to "superweapon," according to VG247.
