Ultrakill is a fast-paced retro first-person shooter game that just received a massive update adding a ton of weapon variations amid its Steam FPS Fest discount.

The game is set in a world where humans have not learned their lesson despite the many times that robots have turned against their creators. The menacing machinations are out in the world and are hungry for blood.

Ultrakill puts players in the shoes of someone who is tasked with putting the robots in their place. The game entered Steam's early access in 2020 and has since become one of the most enduringly popular FPS titles around.

The game has more than 95,000 reviews and has a 98% "Overwhelmingly Positive" rating on Valve's gaming platform. The overwhelming love for the game is due to the incredibly frenetic and tight gunplay that it offers players.

It excels when players choose to go fast and blast down wave after wave of evil robots, finishing levels, and sucking up blood to fuel their health and fight for even longer. Ultrakill, similar to games like Devil May Cry and Bulletstorm, has very little downtime, according to PCGamesN.

The game constantly rates players on their combat performance and if they do well, they will earn enough points to unlock more weapon variations. This means that you will always be looking out for new ways to improve your robot-killing arsenal.

The developer of Ultrakill, Arsi "Hakita" Patala, put together a brand new update for the game to coincide with Steam's FPS Fest. The Full Arsenal Update adds what are thought to be the final weapon variations to the game.

These include the Firestarter red Rocket Launcher, JumpStart red Nailgun, and Sawed-on red Shotgun variations. These are all now available to be unlocked and used to blast away the hordes of evil robots.

Massive Steam FPS Fest Discount

On top of the weapon variations and a massive 25% discount on Steam, the new update also adds a brand new Brutal difficulty with a secret level that will surely challenge players. It also adds hundreds of other changes, fixes, and tweaks to the game, said Destructoid.

The highlights of the changes include a rework of the blood-splatter collision system for improved environmental collision accuracy, a rework of the options menu, and an increased style bonus for non-lethal explosions.

The Full Arsenal Update also lets players gain style points when they destroy idols and allows them to punch a dying Mindflayer into a Gutterman to break the latter's shield. The Earthmover now has an Idol spawn timer and size 2 fish can now be caught.

One of the previous updates for the game was the first part of its third and final act: Layer 7, Violence, which was added in a holiday patch last December. The new layer brings what fans love with older stages, according to PCGamer.

The Full Arsenal Update for Ultrakill comes as the game is inching closer to its full release but the developer has not yet announced an official schedule for the 1.0 update. Despite the uncertainty, the good news is that there is still plenty of content available.
