Nintendo Virtual Console Update: 'Super Mario 3' Out For Wii U and 3DS, 'Golden Sun' and 'F-Zero' Also Available

Nintendo Virtual Console Update Adds 'Super Mario 3,' Among Others

Nintendo has announced the latest Virtual Console update, and the headliner is a big one: Super Mario Bros. 3 is making its way to both the 3DS and the Wii U starting today, part of Nintendo's Virtual Console "month to remember."

For those that have never played Super Mario 3 before, it's awesome. It was the first game to introduce the now-famous Tanooki suit, the frog suit and the hammer suit. The game also featured Mario and Luigi branching out from the Mushroom Kingdom, exploring seven neighboring kingdoms.

But that's not the only game making its way to Virtual Console this week. In continuing the Game Boy Advance rollout for Wii U this month, Nintendo announced that Golden Sun and F-Zero: Maximum Velocity will be available starting today as well. For what it's worth, LEGO The Hobbit is also available on the Wii U eShop.

Nintendo also announced the Flowerworks HD: Follie's Adventure and My First Songs are now available on Wii U, and Bit Boy!! Arcade and Smash Cat Heroes are available on 3DS.

As far as sales go, Classic Games Overload on 3DS is on sale for 50 percent off through 9 am on May 1, and Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag and ZombiU got permanent price reductions of $39.99 and $29.99, respectively.

Quite a few updates from Nintendo. If you've somehow never played Super Mario Bros. 3 before, check out Nintendo's Wii U trailer below.
