Gray Zone Warfare: A Beginner's Guide to What Weapons Can be Found

Gray Zone Warfare has continued to attract more and more players to its innovative first-person shooter gameplay since its release on Apr. 30, 2024.

Many players who are just starting out would probably be somewhat overwhelmed with how the game works within its relatively open-world environment. Knowing what weapons to use and where to find them will be crucial in staying alive in an arena filled with danger at every corner.

While Gray Zone Warfare is still in early access on Steam, it already has an expansive list of available weapons, including assault rifles, shotguns, and melee equipment.

There are five main categories of weapons in the game and they can be earned either through various faction vendors, from the overworld, or looted from enemies.

It is also important to remember that this game can be played in groups, which means that sharing weapons you find with your teammates could be crucial to success.

Something that is lacking in Gray Zone Warfare right now is melee weapons as there is only one available right now, according to GameRant.

This is a weapon that is particularly useful at close range or when you have run out of ammo shooting at enemies and the only one that can be used right now is the Ka-Bar knife.

On the other hand, Assault Rifles are the bread and butter of most shooter games and Gray Zone Warfare is no exception. This weapon category is reliable and deadly in the right hands and is amazing for mid-range fights. So far, there are nine available Assault Rifles in the game that players can choose from.

Want to get close but still pack a punch with bullets? Shotguns are the way. There are currently only two shotguns available in Gray Zone Warfare, the Mossberg 590 and the M870. These weapons can immediately win confrontations at close range due to their massive firepower.

Potential Expansion of Weapon List

Another weapon category in the game is submachine guns, which also only have one available item right now, the VZ.61 Scorpion. This category packs less firepower than assault rifles but is also easier to handle than the bigger weapons that are available, said DotEsports.

While it seems like there aren't that many options available for players right now, the game is still in early access and the list could grow substantially as time goes on.

While there is no doubt that the categories now will be expanded, other weapon types, such as rocket launchers, could make their way to Gray Zone Warfare.

The game's popularity skyrocketed when it was released and was able to sell more than 400,000 copies just two days after launch. Its success can also somewhat be related to Escape From Tarkov's fall from grace.

The latter was embroiled in controversy when its developer, Battlestate Games, revealed a new PvE mode that was locked behind a $250 paywall. This was even though players who bought the $150 edition of the game were promised they would have access to all future DLCs, according to GamingBolt.
