A Full PlayStation 5 Astro Bot Game Rumored To Be Announced Soon

A full PlayStation 5 Astro Bot game is rumored to be announced very soon based on information provided by reliable leaker Billbil-kun on Dealabs.

They reported that the reveal for the game will be made "within 15 days" and this information, when placed with other rumors, suggests there could soon be a PlayStation Showcase. The leak also continues to say that Astro will come alongside a new fox-like character.

It was also noted that the rumored game will feature some kind of desert environment and will be a PlayStation 5 project and not a PlayStation VR 2 title. The announcement of a new game in the franchise will not be too much of a surprise.

Fans of the series have known for quite some time now that the developer behind the beautiful PlayStation 5 title Astro's Playroom, Team Asobi, was working on something. At this point, there would be no reason for this particular project to stray away from the Astro property, according to Push Square.

The rumor comes as Dealabs has had a consistent track record when it comes to providing insider information about PlayStation. Their previous report on Until Dawn getting PlayStation 5 and PC versions, which turned out to be true,

This was when Sony later revealed them back in January this year and Dealabs earlier this month reported that God of War Ragnarok would be coming to PC in the future. This is something that has not yet been announced.

The outlet also reported that more details regarding the studio's upcoming live-service game, Concord, will be revealed to the public soon. The first game in the Astro Bot franchise, Astro Bot: Rescue Mission, was initially released in 2018 for PlayStation 4 and PSVR.

The game's sequel, Astro's Playroom, was released two years later in 2020 and came pre-installed with every single PlayStation 5 console. The two games were critically well-received and the latter served as a tech demo for the PlayStation 5's DualSense controller, said GameSpot.

A Potential Announcement

Team Asobi revealed back in 2021 that it was working on its "most ambitious game yet" but it remains unclear whether that project that they referred to was this rumored Astro Bot or is a completely different game.

The developer later doubled down on this when it said that its next project would be its "biggest to date." The rumors come as Summer Game Fest is set to kick off in the next few weeks and this makes it no surprise that PlayStation is gearing up some announcements in the video game industry.

For weeks now, a PlayStation Showcase of some kind has been in the rumor mill and many people believe that Sony will announce a summer presentation sooner than later.

The Astro Bot franchise has only appeared a handful of times in the last decade. It is also typically used to highlight PlayStation hardware features.

So far, even with all of the rumors around a new game in the franchise, it is difficult to say exactly how the next Atro Bot game will build upon Team Asobi's previous works. However, the team seems to at least be confident in what they are working on, according to IGN.
