Super Mario Run, a simple mobile game in the franchise, is collaborating with Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door to add new missions and limited-time rewards.

The update is a celebration of the release of the remake for the latter that was recently launched for the Nintendo Switch.

The missions will become available for Super Mario Run players starting on May 23, 2024, at 12:00 a.m. PT until June 27, 2024, at 12:00 a.m. PT.

You will be able to check mission objectives and how much progress you have already made in the game when you tap the mission icon in the top-right portion of your kingdom.

There is also a paid stage that can be unlocked for free by simply linking Super Mario Run with your Nintendo Account, the same one that you use on Nintendo.com, on your Switch, or with other smart-device apps from Nintendo, according to Nintendo.

Super Mario Run is a game that can be played with only one hand and tasks players with controlling Mario by constantly tapping to run forward. You need to time your taps to pull off stylish jumps, mid-air spins, and wall jumps in order to gather coins and reach the goal.

The latest collaboration comes after in March earlier this year, Super Mario Run had a crossover event with Princess Peach: Showtime to celebrate the release of the latter. That event ran for a limited time and gave players a chance to earn bonus medals and special items.

Similar to other celebrations in the past, the Paper Mario: Thousand-Year Door collaboration will give a bonus 1.2x multiplier to the amount of medals that you earn in the level Remix 10. The crossover comes as the remake that was recently released on Switch has become a massive hit among players.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door

It has already become one of the highest-rated games of the year and ranks among other games such as Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Tekken 8, and Balatro. Fans of the franchise also praised the remake for retaining the core experience of the original game on the GameCube, said GameRant.

Despite sticking true to the original game, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door also fixes some of the issues that plagued the base game. Fans are also impressed with Intelligence Systems and Nintendo's efforts to remake the classic Mario RPG.

The game was also made to improve upon the personalities of its characters and in the early stages, you meet a Toad who was busy playing classic Game Boy Advance games. He speaks in reference to Fire Emblem and tells Mario how the old-school RPG "rocks his socks."

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is filled with characters and moments similar to this one and millions of players can experience it for the first time.

The game has never been remastered, ported, or released digitally since the launch of its original GameCube title decades ago, until now, according to The Gamer.
