Punch Quest is one of the best games you can download for your mobile device. An utterly addicting and utterly replayable arcade fighting game that sees you punching through hundreds of enemies, customizing your character with different special moves and abilities. The game smashed its way onto the App and Google Play stores and became one of the best games of the year in 2012, for any platform. Now, Rocketcat Games is back with another game that's determined to suck up your time- Wayward Souls.
The game is being described as a mix of Diablo and Dark Souls, a roguelike that doesn't hesitate to kill you off in brutal ways. Death is permanent in this game, so don't get too attached to your character. Wayward Souls is controlled entirely through touchscreen gestures and was designed for quick playthroughs. Each time you start the game the level is randomized, offering you an insane amount of replay value, hopefully something on the level of Punch Quest. It definitely looks amazing and incredibly varied, as you'll see from the trailer below.
It's interesting to see Rocketcat Games change up their business model here. They famously had hundreds of thousands of downloads of Punch Quest but it translated to few in-app purchases, and despite some tweaks to the IAP prices and a price increase to $0.99 (before dropping it back down to free) it seems they never made as much money on that incredible game as they deserved to. For Wayward Souls they are starting the game at $4.99. If you buy it at this price you will get every single big content update they have planned for the future. Every time they do a big content update they will raise the price by a dollar, so it completely makes sense to jump into it now if you're curious!
