Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Fan Festivals Announced by Square Enix- Coming to Las Vegas October

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Fan Festivals Announced by Square Enix

It's a rare thing indeed for a company to relaunch an MMO and to have it suceed, but Square Enix seems to have managed it with Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. FFXIV's original release was universally panned when it hit in 2010, attracting all kinds of criticism from both critics and fans, so much so that Square Enix decided to scrap everything and relaunch the game. In 2012 they introduced a Calamity (a virtual extinction event) that killed off everything in the game, and relaunched it with A Realm Reborn, aka Version 2.0. It's improved in pretty much every way and has just hit the PS4 in a definitive version. The game is just continuing to attract new players left and right, currently boasting over two million players.

Square Enix is understandably pleased at the reaction, and is going to release global fan festivals to celebrate. The first one is coming to North America by way of Las Vegas this October 2014, and two more festivals are planned for London and Tokyo.

There's no details just yet on what they will entail but fans will certainly want to keep an eye on the official site for more updates. They've announced that more info will be coming this June, which likely means that it will be revealed at E3, which takes place June 10-12.

As for FFXIV, there are two new classes on the way. They haven't officially anounced anything but at a recent live event producer Naoki Yoshida confirmed that the classes will deal with guns and daggers, respectively. Expect a full reveal at E3!
