"Marvel's Wolverine" has been the talk of the town as it has been confirmed for a 2026 release date after various delays. Now, a trusted PlayStation insider has talked about its release window for the PS5.
'Marvel's Wolverine' Potential Release Window
Trusted insider Jason Schreier from Bloomberg recently discussed "Marvel's Wolverine's" release window when he joined the "Button Mash" podcast earlier this week.
According to Schreier, the expected release window for Insomniac Games' most-anticipated AAA-rated title is around the months of September or October this year and not later than that.
Schreier claims that he is having a "hard time" seeing the game releasing outside of September or October 2026 because "Grand Theft Auto VI" is also coming this fall with a November 19 release date.
This may be enough reason for PlayStation to keep "Marvel's Wolverine" away from it.
Schreier said that PlayStation wants to put a significant gap between the release date of "Marvel's Wolverine" and "Grand Theft Auto VI," with Sony already planning its calendar.
It was also shared by the insider that he suspects that no games from PlayStation would be released near "Grand Theft Auto VI's" release because of the game's already existing effect in the industry.
It has since been the trend in the gaming industry to steer clear of "Grand Theft Auto VI's" release window so as not to tank or get overlooked by the awaited RPG sandbox from Rockstar Games.
Previously, the supposed fall 2025 release date for "GTA VI" was avoided by many other AAA-rated titles. One example was Hideo Kojima's "Death Stranding 2: On the Beach," which opted for a summer 2025 release.
What to Expect from PS5's 'Marvel's Wolverine'
Insomniac's "Marvel's Wolverine" is set to deliver the long-delayed solo story of the iconic X-Men hero, Wolverine, as he tries to uncover the secrets of his dark past, particularly his quest to learn more about how he came to be.
The game teases a brutal and vicious experience as the player takes on the role of Logan, exploring places connected to him like Madripoor, Canada, and Tokyo.
"Marvel's Wolverine" is set to launch exclusively on the PlayStation 5 initially, but it will eventually be released for PC.
