It has been almost three years since "Hogwarts Legacy" was first released, but the bad news keeps coming for the game's sequel as fans and players will have to wait for an extended period for it.
A recent update from a Warner Bros. Games executive confirmed that the studio's developments are all seeing a delay.
'Hogwarts Legacy 2' Update Is Bad News For Fans
ComicBook Gaming's latest report talks about a recent interview by a Warner Bros. Games executive, which confirmed that many of the studio's titles are facing delays, and this includes the sequel to "Hogwarts Legacy."
While it is not yet its official name, "Hogwarts Legacy 2" is already a highly sought-after title amongst players because of the stellar performance of the original game.
Despite "Hogwarts Legacy" receiving mixed reviews from critics and fans, many have enjoyed the RPG focus of the title, which brought a modern game based on the "Harry Potter" franchise and allowed players to experience being a witch or wizard.
Immediately after its release, WB Games already confirmed that a sequel is guaranteed for the franchise, but since the announcement, the studio has yet to address any progress or updates regarding the next game.
WB Games Exec Confirms Delays
According to Warner Bros.' head of global streaming and gaming, JB Perrette (via Variety), the company considered 2025 as a "year of reset." The studio was revealed to have tried to capitalize on its IPs but ultimately failed.
Because of that, the team will now attempt to pivot on its strategies and recuperate from its losses, with the "fruits" of their labor to start coming in from 2027 to 2028, according to Perrette.
The executive's comments may be referring to the earliest timeline for its developments, and this may include the likes of "Hogwarts Legacy 2" and other IPs.
