"Pokémon Winds and Waves" is not only bringing new content and experiences to the franchise as a new report speculates that a famed Generation 3 feature is also making its way to next year's game.
This specific feature or mechanic was included inn games like "Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire," as well as its expanded version, "Pokémon Emerald."
'Pokémon Winds and Waves' May Get a Gen. 3 Feature
According to a report by ComicBook Gaming, the recent showcase of The Pokémon Company on the Pokémon Presents event and the first look trailer of "Winds and Waves" hint at a possible feature from Generation 3 coming to next year's game.
The feature or mechanic in question is none other than the "Dive" feature, which allows players to explore areas underwater and discover the likes of new Pokémon, items, and more. As per ComicBook Gaming, "Winds and Waves" puts great focus on islands and bodies of water, suggesting that players will traverse the ocean or seas in the game.
Because of this, Dive may be making comeback in Gen. 10, especially as its last appearance was in a Generation 3 game and its next-gen console revival via "Alpha Ruby and Alpha Sapphire," which was on the Nintendo 3DS.
What to Expect From the Generation 10 Pokémon
Based on ComicBook Gaming's speculation, "Pokémon Winds and Waves'" setting focuses more on inter-island exploration, which also means that players could be spending more time in bodies of water. With this, players may be getting more than the Surf feature and also see Dive return.
Dive is best known to be usable after obtaining HM08, which teaches an eligible Pokémon the move, and secures the badge that allows players to use it when able.
Players who then come across darker shades of water when surfing could use Dive to go to the seafloor and further explore the oceans or seas.
