There Could Be a Marvel Avengers Game, If the Time is Right

Apparently Marvel Is Entertaining the Idea of Making an Avengers Game

Wouldn't an Avengers game be super cool? Well, one that wasn't a movie licensed crap fest, at least.

Marvel's head of games TQ Jefferson seems to think so too, as he told IGN that it would need to be a perfect storm to get an Avengers game out.

"The Avengers game will come when we have the right partner, that has the right vision, that has the time to develop a strong, competitive triple-A title and wants to do it right," he told IGN. "It has to hit our three pillars: Fun and engaging gameplay, true to the characters, compelling story. Without hitting those notes, we shouldn't do it. Gamers, they know better. They're not going to flock to something that's sub-par."

That's awesome, and it seems that Marvel is now going to take that approach when it comes to games, perhaps inspired by the Batman: Arkham series.

"I think the fact that there wasn't an Avengers game turned out in time for the film is indicative of Marvel's new attitude and the approach to how we find partners and build games," Jefferson said. "I think in the heyday of the movie licensed game, these games were popping out all the time and most of them sucked."

So, wait, that's all fine and dandy, but are we just going to pretend that Avengers: Battle for Earth never happened? I guess that's the plan. OK, I'll shut up now before an agent of SHIELD comes and silences me for good.
