"Valheim" version 1.0 will launch on September 9, 2026, bringing the long-awaited Deep North biome and coinciding with the survival game's full release on PC and major consoles after more than five years in early access.

Iron Gate Studio has confirmed that "Valheim" will exit early access with its 1.0 build in September, completing the game's world map by finally adding the Deep North region.

The update marks the end of the early access phase that began in 2021, with the developers positioning 1.0 as the point where the core biome roster and progression are considered feature-complete.

The 1.0 launch is set for PC alongside console versions on PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2, bringing parity across platforms for the first time, according to DLCompare.

'Valheim' Version 1.0 Release

Iron Gate has already announced that "Valheim" is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 later in 2026, and the 1.0 rollout aligns that new version with the existing PC and Xbox releases while adding Sony's latest console to the lineup. The studio has clarified that Nintendo Switch 2 support does not extend to the original Switch hardware.

The Deep North biome is the headline addition in 1.0, filling the final empty zone on the in-game world map with a fully realized, snowy endgame region. Developers have confirmed that Deep North is part of the 1.0 package and will arrive with new enemies, traversal tools, and adjustments to earlier biomes to smooth out late-game progression.

This biome has been positioned as the capstone to years of staggered content updates, following previous major biomes such as Ashlands.

Alongside the new region, the 1.0 update includes reworks to combat and boss powers designed to make encounters feel more consistent and less punishing without adding unnecessary complexity, Gamer reported.

Fulfilling Players' Requests

Iron Gate has also acknowledged ongoing work on armor variety, including more options requested by players, and on additional seasonal items that will roll out around in-game events.

Other quality-of-life improvements, such as interactive building pieces and expanded emotes that are in active development, further refining the core survival and building experience.

Despite the version number, the developers say 1.0 is not the end of "Valheim," describing the release build as a "canvas" for future updates rather than a final, fixed state.

Post-launch support is expected to focus on free updates and quality-of-life improvements, while the team has not yet committed to formal expansions or paid DLC. Pricing is likely to increase around the full release, with the studio indicating it has a new price point in mind once the game leaves early access, as per PCGamesN.
