Project Morpheus VR Headset News: PS4 To Get 'Among the Sleep' Kickstarter 'Toddler Horror' Title [VIDEO]

Terrifying Horror Game Among The Sleep Announced For PS4 And Project Morpheus

Last year Krillbite Studios ran a successful Kickstarter campaign to fund Among the Sleep, a horror game that lets you experience the world through the eyes of a toddler. It had only been planned for PC, Mac and Linux for the end of the year, but now they've revealed that the game will also hit PS4... and even Project Morpheus, Sony's upcoming virtual reality headset.

Project Morpheus Planned for PS4 From Start, Whole Purpose Behind DualShock 4's Light Bar

CEO /Programmer of Krillbite Ole Andreas Jordet announced the new version via the Playstation Blog, explaining to their new audience all the details about the game. In it, you play as a two-year-old who's trying to find his mother. You have a teddy bear that doubles as a flashlight but otherwise you'll all alone, trying to walk around an environment where everything is too big for you and even getting to a door handle proves to be a challenge.

"Merging a child's perception of reality with its wild imagination provides an interesting setting to tell a story," Jordet says. "With only your teddy bear as a companion, we hope players will unravel what is actually causing the fear and confusion."

Horror Game Daylight Supports Oculus Rift, Twitch TV

There's no doubt that the game looks utterly terrifying, the idea of a giant world where everything's out of your grasp disorienting and scary. You can actually try it out for yourself today- they have a free demo of the game available on Steam right here that you should absolutely download, dimming the lights and cranking the surround sound for maximum scares.

Another exciting feature coming is the Oculus Rift implementation. Krillbite talked putting basic Oculus controls into the game regardless but they reached their stretch goal that would give them the funds necessary to optimize it and try new possibilities with the technology. Now it's obvious that they're going to do the same for the PlayStation 4's VR Headset, as they mention that "[w]e're thrilled to be among the first to explore Sony's new virtual reality technology Morpheus".

If you're one of their Kickstarter backers and are upset that you didn't have the option of getting a PS4 version, they promise they'll have a deal for you.

Seeing as how Sony has been partnering with indie titles to give new games away for free as part of P SPlus I wouldn't be suprised if this was one of the choices when it finally hits- but an even more exciting possibility is the game being bundled with the Propject Morpheus unit itself. The game is only supposed to take a few hours to complete (long horror titles never work, anyway) so it would be the perfect showcase for the technology.

Check out the video below for an idea of the horrors we'll soon experience...
