Minecraft Xbox One Edition Release Date Confirmed: Hitting August, Allows 360 Owners To Upgrade For Cheap [SCREEN]

Minecraft: Xbox One Edition Confirmed!

Mojang and Microsoft Studios have just officially announced that Minecraft: Xbox One Edition will release globally this August 2014.

Minecraft Title Update 16 Now Available for Xbox 360

As with previous console versions the game will debut at $19.99, but Xbox 360 owners of Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition can upgrade to the fancy new version for a mere $4.99. This deal will be in place for a year after release and will allow you to import your 360 saved game data and bring your Minecraft world onto Xbox One. 12 million people have bought the game on Xbox 360 so Mojang undoubtedly doesn't want to leave them in the dust- although all of the (many) gamers who opted to purchase a PS4 instead are out of luck.

There is a caveat with the upgrade, however. Most of your downloadable skins and texture packs will carry over as well, but not all of them. Which ones won't make it hasn't been announced yet- stay here for more details.

Minecraft Vita Edition Coming Soon?

There are also no details on what this version will offer over the Xbox 360 edition- prettier graphics should be obvious, but it's not as if the game is a graphics hog as it is. There's a reason that the Vita and mobile versions are going to look much the same. Still, it's nice to not have to swap consoles for anyone who's jumped into next-gen.

More news on the upcoming versions of Minecraft as we hear it!
