The next DLC for hit zombie survival game State of Decay has received its debut trailer, as well as a final release date and pricing for both Xbox 360 and PC.
Multiplayer Is The Future Of State Of Decay
The Lifeline content will be coming slightly sooner than the original goal date, something developers Undead Labs say would be a first for a game. It will cost $6.99, and contains an entirely new city and story in which you play as a group of soldiers on a rescue mission.
Unlike the Breakdown DLC, which added a new mode to the same region, this is the first narrative-driven expansion with a new locale. We've heard in post reveals that the mechanics in Lifeline will run opposite to those in the original game. Rather than start of weak and build your strength, you'll begin as a well-armed unit that struggles with losses and diminishing supplies as you attempt to complete your mission.

The trailer shows that many of the same features that players loved about State of Decay will naturally be in the expansion, such as base building, but will take place in a new city with new characters.
State of Decay was a bit of a surprise hit, becoming the fastest-selling Xbox Live Arcade titles in Xbox's history, the best-selling title not named Minecraft, and gaining a passionate fanbase in the process. The cost of Lifeline seems fairly reasonable to me based on what they're adding, especially considering that much less content is released for other titles for a similar price.
A new playable campaign and entirely new region seem worth it--as long as the content is high quality. Watch for reviews to hit as we lead up to the May 30 release date, and be sure to watch the IGN exclusive trailer below.
