'Over 9000 Zombies!' Trailer Release, Retro Shooter Coming To Steam Early Access And The Oculus Rift [VIDEO]

Fans of both zombies and well worn internet memes have much to be happy about this morning. Indie game Over 9000 Zombies! has released a trailer for its upcoming Steam Early Access, which hits the internet in July.

So Many Me Platformer Coming To Steam

Over 9000 Zombies! is a retro, top down shoot em up game, reminiscent of NES classic Smash TV. In Zombies, you will have to fight off horde after massive horde of the walking dead, which utilize what designer Loren Lemcke describes as "zombie swarm intelligence...a mathematical system to generate massive hordes of zombies for insane zombie killing chaos." Which roughly translates to "you will never be without something to shoot in this game."

The game will feature a wide array of zombie killing tools and offer you the choice to run and gun it, mowing down the undead as you travel from place to place, or to build a base and defend it from the ravenous masses outside.

Anomaly Defenders Tower Defense Game Released On Steam

The game may look retro and 2D, but that has not stopped it from being bought by the Oculus Rift for use in their system. How that will work I am deathly curious about. The game also added a co-operative multiplayer mode, allowing you and a friend to fight alongside one another in a futile attempt to survive. All you can do is hope to last as long as you can.

I have no idea what 9000 zombies would look like on my screen, but it sounds daunting and terrifying. I look forward to the first day of the Steam Early Access where the commenters start crying 'bullshit' because there were, in fact, only 8,957 zombies and not the titular 9000. I mean, this is the internet we're talking about here.

The game will launch on Steam in July. Watch the trailer below, and check out the official website for this indie gem here.
