'Super Smash Bros 4' For 3DS Release Date: Update Shows Off Trophy Of Tortimer Island From 'Animal Crossing' [SCREEN]

Super Smash Bros Pic of the Day Shows Off Trophy Of Tortimer Island From Animal Crossing

The Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS details keep coming from Nintendo, ahead of the staggered releases of both versions while we wait for specific launch dates.

Check Out The Recape Of The Latest Super Smash Bros. Reveals

We know the title will be out this summer on 3DS, and most likely this winter on Wii U, but it's seeming increasingly likely that we'll have to wait for this June's E3 for the exact release date.

What we will consistently see are daily updates from Nintendo on the game's official site. The last significant info drop came from a Nintendo Direct, below, which revealed several new characters and details.

New Mushroom Kingdom U Stage Revealed

Since then we've only seen Ike revealed, and while the daily posts don't give as many details as that video did, rest assured that series director Masahiro Sakurai will show us something new from Super Smash Bros. with every update.

Today's post is a bit more low-key than some of the other more major reveals, such as yesterday's new Mushroom Kingdom U stage. It focuses on a stage as well, but only a trophy of one (and not a useable assist trophy item, just the collectible type). Here's Sakurai's description:

"Pic of the day. Some stages have been shrunk down and made into trophies, like this one of Tortimer Island for the 3DS version. I wish I could have a figurine like this in real life."

Not exactly a new playable character or stage, but it is something we haven't seen before. This is somewhat the result of one man choosing what to reveal each day--it's entirely up to him, despite some protest on the Miiverse forums to show something more exciting.

We've had a good amount of that, though, so it's hard to blame Sakurai for his choices. Keep checking back for more Super Smash Bros. news ahead of E3, which will hopefully include an early specific release date announcement.
