EA World Cup 2014 Simulation Predicts Germany To Win Trophy In Brazil This July

EA Simulation Predicts Germany Will Lift the World Cup

The World Cup is approaching, and alongside its tournament-related game content, EA Sports has also run a simulation of the world's biggest sporting event using standalone title 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil, determining that Germany will lift the trophy on July 13.

It would be a historic win in real life, as the German side would be the first European country to win a World Cup hosted on South American soil. The Europeans have traditionally had a difficult time playing on the distant continent, but EA's simulation has the Germans defeating Brazil 2-1 in extra time.

Neymar will be the star of the tournament by its end (as if he isn't already, with all eyes on the young prodigy), despite Brazil's defeat in the final. He will win the Golden Boot for most goals and the tournament's Golden Ball for best player, according to the simulation.

Current World Cup holders Spain will finish in third, defeating Portugal 3-1 in the consolation match. The U.S. will not fare well, failing to make it out of the group stage--which is unfortunately the likely reality. Germany, Portugal and Ghana are a tough group, and advancing would certainly be against the odds.

Mexico will be the only CONCACAF representative to make it to the round of 16, which I find unlikely, as I can't see them advancing out of the group over Brazil, Croatia, or even Cameroon.

I personally have Brazil vs. Argentina final, with the hosts lifting the World Cup. Germany and Brazil meeting in the final would require one of them to not win their group, which I find unlikely in the first place--otherwise, they meet in the semi-final, where I chose Brazil to move on. This is a simulation, though, and any result is possible--it will be fun to see if EA's results are accurate over the course of the tournament.
