Nintendo. The little big company that refuses to ever be counted out. Though it lacked an official press conference this E3, Nintendo still had plenty to show off. What the game maker may lack in hardware processing power, they more than make up for in engineering some of the most popular, recognizable brands in video game history. Perhaps none are more iconic than The Legend of Zelda and today, Nintendo showed off some footage and explained the new philosophy behind the Wii U version of the adventure franchise.

No Man's Sky Opens Up The UNIVERSE For Exploration

Rumored to be titled The Legend of Zelda: Unbound King, the game will feature a vast, open, fully explorable world. Those mountains in the distance? You can totally go to them. The developers pointed out that previous Zelda games, citing The Wind Waker as an example, only gave the players the illusion of exploration. The game still progressed in a very linear fashion. They hope to undo that with Unbound King, opening up all of Hyrule to whatever your whims may be.

Not simply content to have you sit down and listen to them speak, Nintendo showed off a bit of the game itself. Link, astride atop his horse Epona, is suddenly attacked by a vicious looking steampunk scorpion spider thing that chases the duo through the land before Link jumps off his faithful steed and is about to unload a very Hawkeye-esque arrow right into the beast's scaly carapace.

Link's new look is decidedly less green. He's sporting a blue shirt and wicked looking bow. Well, if Nintendo wanted to shake things up, they've certainly got out attention.

The Legend of Zelda: Unbound King will be released on Wii U next year and will be the second must have title for the system. Zelda games are always worth it, and it's shaping itself up to be a game changer.
