'Daredevil' News: Vincent D'Onofrio Cast As The Kingpin In Marvel's Upcoming Netflix Series? [VIDEO]

Vincent D'Onofrio Cast As The Kingpin In Marvel's Upcoming Daredevil Netflix Series

Marvel Studios, refusing to be pushed aside by something as petty and tiny as E3, has just announced that Vincent D'Onofrio, best known for his work in Fully Metal Jacket and more recently Law & Order: Criminal Intent, will don expensive suits and fine cigars as Wilson Fisk, aka The Kingpin, in Marvel's upcoming Daredevil Netflix series.

British Actor Charlie Cox Will Be The Man Without Fear

D'Onofrio will square off against Charlie Cox, recently cast as Matt Murdock, the blind lawyer by day who becomes Daredevil by night. Presumably D'Onofrio's Fisk will be a major antagonist against the other heroes Marvel & Netflix have slated for series release: Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. All four heroes are New York City based crime fighters, and the Kingpin is, well, the kingpin of New York City crime. The four heroes will join up in a cross-over event called The Defenders at the end of the 13 episode seasons.

Per the Marvel press release: "We're incredibly proud to have an actor with the gravitas and versatility of Vincent joining 'Marvel's Daredevil' in such an integral role," said Jeph Loeb, Marvel's Head of Television. "Wilson Fisk is an iconic villain whose cunning and power make him the dangerous equal of our hero."

Daredevil Showrunner Drew Goddard Drops Out

The role of Kingpin was previously played by the late, great Michael Clarke Duncan in the 2003 Daredevil film starring Ben Affleck. Duncan was hands down the best part of the movie, and perhaps the only talented actor in Hollywood with the size to match Kingpin's sizable girth.

Despite some bumps in the road, Daredevil is coming along nicely. The other three series have only been announced but little has been done in terms of casting. Hopefully with the build up to Guardians of the Galaxy, we'll get more and more Marvel casting coming to us.

Daredevil will hit Netflix in 2015.
