The Legend Of Zelda 'Hyrule Warriors' News: E3 2014 Gameplay Show Link and Wolf Rider Midna In Action At New Palace of Twilight Level! [VIDEO]

Watch Midna Dominate Legions of Enemies In 40 Minutes of Hyrule Warriors Gameplay

To date, we've seen plenty of Link and Impa cavorting around the lush greenery in Hyrule Warriors, but ever since we learned that Zelda and Twilight Princess's Midna would be joining the fray, obviously that's who we want to see in action. And that's just what Nintendo delivered recently at a special E3 2014 presentation of Nintendo Treehouse.

Nintendo Teases Ganon for Hyrule Warriors

Well, they delivered about half of that. While Zelda was M.I.A., Midna pulled a double shift, and rightly so given the environment. Nintendo had the impish Twili run rampant in some familiar territory, the Palace of Twilight.

To make things familiar to both Dynasty Warriors and Twilight Princess players alike, Nintendo chose to have Midna summon a wolf-like creature she could ride around on, similar to how she would ride on Link's beastial form in Twilight Princess.

Nintendo's Descriptions of Hyrule Warriors' Playable Characters and New Enemies Surface

Her attacks were similar to her abilities in TP, like summoning Twilight Portals, using her hair as a hand to smack or hurl enemies, and more. She uses these skills against hordes of enemies, and a familiar piece of Link's arsenal to take down the Twilight Dragon Argorok. There's a lot to take in, as Midna dominates the majority of the 40 minute clip, so grab some popcorn, get comfy, and watch the whole thing below.

The upcoming game is not a core entry in the Legend of Zelda series. As such, Hyrule Warriors can get away with a bit of experimentation. In addition to the familiar faces, the game introduces a few new ones as well. The story revolves around a new villain, the Black Witch Cia. At one time, she was in charge of protecting the equilibrium of the Triforce. But because of a penchant for green tights, she developed feelings for Link, and becomes jealous of his relationship with Princess Zelda, kidnaps her, and sends Hyrule into chaos. But a recent teaser indicates that either another playable character is on the way, or that a longtime LoZ baddie might be pulling Cia's strings.

We'll find out when Hyrule Warriors launches on the Wii U this fall, September 26.
