Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS details will keep coming from Nintendo ahead of the staggered release of both versions, even after the E3 excitement and major character reveals.

Nintendo announced at the gaming conference that the 3DS version will be out on October 3, and this holiday season on Wii U. A specific release date for the console version will likely be forthcoming as winter approaches, but Nintendo have plenty of time to make that announcement.

Several new characters and other details were revealed at E3 as expected, including the unveiling of Lady Palutena, Pac-man, Mr. Game & Watch, and the Mii Fighters.

Packed October Release Schedule Includes Super Smash For 3DS, Assassin's Creed, Dragon Age & More

The daily update on the official site today took time to appreciate the roster rather than reveal new information, with series director Masahiro Sakurai marveling at the cast of former rivals brought together in one game. As you can see in the image above, it's pretty crazy for anyone who was playing games in the 80s and 90s to see all of those characters in the same title.

"Pic of the day. This is quite a line-up of characters for the gaming world," Sakurai posted. "I mean, it's amazing enough that Mario can fight Pikachu. I hope you enjoy this truly unique celebration!!"

It is pretty amusing to see Mario, Megaman, Sonic, and Pac-man all in one title--and the roster isn't final yet. Keep checking back for more Smash Bros. news each day, and keep an eye out for new character reveals or a Wii U release date.
