Surface Pro 3 vs MacBook Air: Microsoft Offering $650 And Its New Tablet-Computer For Your Apple Laptop

Microsoft Offering Surface Pro 3 And $650 For Your MacBook Air

In addition to a marketing campaign billing the Surface Pro 3 as a replacement for laptops, Microsoft is going a step further and offering hundreds of dollars in store credit to those who trade in a MacBook Air for the new tablet-computer hybrid.

If you turn in your MacBook Air between June 20 and July 31 in exchange for a Surface Pro 3, Microsoft will also give you $650 of in-store credit.

The company does not mention which models are eligible, limiting the explanation only to 'MacBook Airs' as long as the computers are in working condition. You can trade your laptop in at Microsoft Stores within the U.S. and Canada.

It's not the first time Microsoft has run such promotions. Earlier this year, the company offered PS3 owners a trade-in option for $100 and an Xbox One. Microsoft has also targeted Apple consumers in the past, offering $200 trade-in deals for iPhones and iPads.

The Surface Pro 3 has been compared to the MacBook Air by Microsoft since its reveal, with Surface head Panos Panay boasting about its superior weight and thickness. That means this offer is understandable and not too surprising: the team believes the Pro 3 can truly replace the laptop, aggressively marketing that point while trying to drive it home with this promotion.
