'WWE 2K15' Announces John Cena For Cover Of Next Gen Title

Last night during WWE Raw, 2K Games officially announced none other than John Cena as the WWE superstar to grace the cover of the company's first truly next-gen effort, WWE 2K15

Cena is perhaps the most popular athlete in America, even bigger than LeBron. In a poll taken of my parents, he is the most recognized wrestler outside of The Rock. The man is an enduring face of the WWE franchise and is the current World Heavyweight Champion, having reacquired the belt for a record-setting 15th time at Sunday night's Money In The Bank pay per view event.

"It is truly an honor and privilege to serve as the WWE 2K15 cover Superstar," said Cena in a press statement. "2K has a tremendous history of sports simulation games and cover athletes, including Michael Jordan, Kevin Durant, LeBron James and of course, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson. I look forward to carrying the flag for WWE 2K15 and introducing the incredible next-generation of WWE gaming to the WWE Universe."

I know a lot of us dislike Cena the wrestler. I find his personality a bit bland, a little too normal, but I absolutely cannot hate on the man himself. He seems like the nicest, coolest dude to ever grace the halls of professional sports and dammit, if The Undertaker can't have the cover all to himself as a way of atoning for breaking The Streak, then I cannot think of anyone else who deserves to be on there better than John Cena.

This is Cena's first solo appearance on the refurbished WWE 2K series, but he has appeared alongside others for WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2011 and 2010.

"Along with monumental gameplay, graphical and presentation improvements, we are confident that Cena will drive WWE 2K15 to cement its spot in history as the greatest WWE video game released to date." said Chris Snyder, Vice President of Marketing at 2K.

WWE 2K15 is hitting Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 on October 24 here in the USA, and on Halloween everywhere else. "

Watch Cena's enthusiastic trailer video below where he promises that WWE 2K15 will be "the best game you've ever been addicted to!" Not a fan of the choice? Then who should have been on the cover? Tell us in the comments below.
