The Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS details will keep coming from Nintendo ahead of the staggered release of both versions, even after all the excitement from E3.

Check Out Link's Alternate Skyward Sword Costume

The title will be out for 3DS on October 3, as Nintendo announced at the gaming conference, and this holiday season on Wii U. A specific release date for the console version will likely be forthcoming as winter approaches, but Nintendo has plenty of time to make that announcement.

Several new characters and other details were revealed at E3 as expected, including the unveiling of Lady Palutena, Pac-man, Mr. Game & Watch, and the Mii Fighters. Even after these major announcements, though, series director Masahiro Sakurai will continue to give us comparatively smaller details through the official site in the form of a daily picture update.

Today's update is another new costume, like we saw recently with Link's Skyward Sword outfit, only this time it's for Little Mac. Fans speculated Link's new costume meant that there would be more variation for other characters rather than just the color swaps of the past, and that's certainly proven to be the case based on the image above. Here's Sakurai's accompanying description, along with a comment he added based on fan observations:

"The pink sweatshirt looks really cool on Little Mac, so you can use that outfit in this game... How can a pink sweatshirt look so cool? Looks like some of you noticed that this version of Little Mac wasn't shown at E3. There are many things, like Link's Skyward Sword tunic design I posted earlier, that haven't been revealed yet."

There's clearly more surprises to come in terms of characters and costumes--keep checking back for more Smash Bros. news each day.
