'QuakeCon 2014' Tournaments Will Have QUAKE LIVE Players Competing For $40,000 In Prizes, Professionals And Amateurs Welcome This July
Do you think you have what it takes to go toe to toe with some of the best QUAKE LIVE players from around the world? Have you got some vacation timed socked away? If so, then Bethesda Softworks wants you for QuakeCon 2014, taking place at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas, Texas from July 17-20.
If the love of competition, the noble fight to prove your worthiness is not enough to entice you, then how does 40,000 clams sound? Pretty good, right. It's the largest pot in QuakeCon's 18 year history and there is no better time than now to brush up on your skills and get down there.
This year's tournament will feature three distinct lineups for all you fans out there: the Intel QUAKE LIVE Duel Masters; The PCPartPicker QUAKE LIVE Capture the Flag Open; and the 64 player Seasonic QUAKE LIVE Duel Open. What, exactly, does all of that mean?
Intel QUAKE LIVE Duel Masters Invitational Championship features known professionals and top QUAKE LIVE competitors in an exclusive tournament. Up to thirty-two of the world's best QUAKE LIVE players, hand selected by tournament staff from the open online registration, will face-off in the 1 vs. 1 duel for $20,000 in a single elimination bracket, with each match played in a best-of-five-games format. With two competitors remaining, thousands will gather to watch as these two best-of-the-best survivors go head-to-head in a single elimination, best-of-five-games throw-down with a $9,000 check written to the champion.
Seasonic QUAKE LIVE Duel Open is available for up to 64 amateur players, this bracket will offer up-and-coming competitors a test of the excitement and pressure of professional gaming. Battling for a share of $2,000, including $1,000 for the champion, players will compete in a single elimination bracket, with each match played in a best-of-three games format.
PCPartPicker QUAKE LIVE Capture the Flag Open will feature 4 vs. 4 competitions for up to sixteen teams battling it out in a double elimination bracket and best-of-three games format. Players who come out on top will share prizes of $20,000, including $8,000 for the team of champions. The top two teams will then face off in a climatic show-match to claim an additional $2,000.
The Duel Masters tournament is by invite only, but the Duel Open and CTF tournament are open to the public on a first come, first serve basis on site only. That means you have to get there early, like super early, like camp out the night before early to get a shot at some endless glory on July 17.
Also, "for the second straight year, QuakeCon 2014 will host the fan-favorite QuakeCon Trials, a series of daily trials testing the skills of players in games from both Bethesda and id Software - including a chance to go hands on with Shinji Mikami's upcoming survival horror game, The Evil Within.
