‘Guild Wars 2’ China Release Sees Number Of Players In Tyria Nearly Double, Reaches 7 Million

The Future Of Your Entertainment: Guild Wars 2 Doubles In Size After Hitting China

A redditor has translated a survey from the game's Chinese publisher, revealing some staggering info.

Enter The Gates Of Maguuma In Guild Wars 2's New Living Story Episode

As GNG has soothsaid before, the future of our entertainment lies within the onyx walls of the Forbidden City. And, you know, the millions of miles around it containing an incredibly diverse and economically viable multitude of people. I mean, the Forbidden City doesn't even have onyx walls.

Some people were skeptic at the idea of NCSoft and ArenaNet's MMO ever being financially viable. With its one-time purchase fee and no subscription cost, coupled with the developer's insistence on releasing new content every two weeks for its Living World, there was just no way micro-transactions alone could sustain such a huge enterprise.

Guild Wars 2's First Feature Pack Drops

Well, naysayers be damned, because the Chinese release of GW2 has nearly doubled the game's population to a whopping 7 million people. Head on over to the reddit thread to read the entire survey and see which servers are most densely populated. Keep in mind that GW2 has yet to be released in such gigantic markets as Russia, Brazil and Southeast Asia. That's absolutely nuts!

In the meantime, ArenaNet keeps rolling out the content! If you've been logging time in game recently, you'll have noticed some junk is going down in the Brisbane Wildlands. If not, go check it out and unlock replayable story instances (a new game feature) before they become paying content. The next episode of the Living Story drops 15 July, and is called Entangled. Additionally, in the Points Of Interest web series, different ArenaNet devs discuss the newly released content.
