‘Star Wars: Rebels’ Trailer Reveals Classic Trilogy Obi-Wan Kenobi [VIDEO]

Getting One Last Voice Mail From A Dead Person – Star Wars: Rebels

The latest Comic Con trailer from LucasFilms' animated series Rebels (airing this fall on Disney XD) shows a familiar face... in hologram form.

Young Force-sensitive Ezra comes across the final broadcast of Obi-Wan Kenobi from Revenge of the Sith, warning all Jedi out there in the galaxy that the Republic as well as the Jedi Order has fallen. The trailer also gives us a few cool moments with David Oyelowo's villain Agent Kallus (haha) and a brief glimpse at Jason Isaacs' Inquisitor.

The astromech droid (that is an R2 D2, guys) is hilariously called Chopper and is a big ole bucket of bolts 'n attitude. There's also some sort of wolf man called Zeb, a "Mandalorian graffiti artist" (hahaha) named Sabine, the dorkiest looking Jedi exile ever with his goatee and pony tail combo Kanan, and Twi'lek captain Hera Syndulla, who will no doubt be revealed to be related to Clone Wars character Cham Syndulla, a Twi'lek anti-Separatist fighter on their homeworld of Ryloth.

JJ Abrams Reveals X-Wing From Episode VII

The trailer plays with the themes of the unease and longing of youth from the old trilogy pretty well, and even has a good "whoa" moment when the imperials realize there's a Jedi still alive. I also like that our motley crew's ship is captained by a Twi'lek lady who, in utter defiance of all Star Wars traditions, is wearing pants in every shot.

Writing duties are Simon Kinberg's, who may or may not have a bit of a spotty track record, but I don't recall stilted dialogue being one of his weaknesses, which is definitely the one thing almost every Star Wars series has sufferd from. May the Force be with you, Kinberg!
