New The Legend of Zelda Hyrule Warriors Character Video Shows Princess Ruto Washing Over The Battlefield Like A Tsunami [VIDEO]

Princess Ruto Washes Over The Battlefield Like A Tsunami In New Hyrule Warriors Character Video

It was only a matter of time until the newest members of the Hyrule Warriors cast got to show off their own special skills. That time is now. That character is Princess Ruto.

Ocarina Of Time Comes To Hyrule Warriors

The blue skinned Zora, who once upon a time was kinda-sorta engaged to our green clad hero, gets to shine in today's 'Never Be Without Zelda' update. The quick minute long video has Ruto bringing wave after wave of, literally, waves to wave after waves of foes. She's a water princess, of course she'll be using a lot of water. At one point she grabs all the enemies into a giant sphere and essentially drowns them. That's cold-blooded Ruto.

What was interesting is spying Darunia, the Goron, sort of following her around. I guess they'll be teaming up at some point.

Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX Pre-Order Incentives Announced

As much as we are congratulating Tecmo and Nintendo on releasing a wealth of playable female characters, we should remember that the majority of them are, in fact, Princesses. A state of being only the very smallest of people will ever be. Agitha might be the self-named Princess of Insects, but she's still a princess. Even Sheik started as Princess Zelda's badass alter ego. So, points for equality, but we're still very entrenched in a classist, aristocratic world.

Ruto is part of a massive Ocarina of Time update that has hit the official Hyrule Warriors site. She is joined by Darunia, the head of the Goron village and Sheik, the nimble, mysterious fighter, now divorced from her Zelda persona. There are only a few weeks left until the game's release in Japan. What else do you hope we'll see?

Hyrule Warriors comes out here in the States on September 26. Watch Ruto in action below.
