‘Tekken 7’ Publisher Bandai Namco Presents ‘Hearthstone’ Rival ‘Outcast Odyssey’ At Comic Con

Bandai Namco Goes Into The Mobile Card Business With Outcast Odyssey

The mobile card game market is a pretty wild scene right now, with Magic 2015, Hearthstone: Curse of Naxxramas and SolForge all vying for the already-overworked card gamer's attention. Not enough, Bandai Namco says!

Hearthstone Curse of Naxxramas Full Card Roster Revealed

The Tekken publisher, along with developer Magic Pixel Studios, announced Outcast Odyssey to come to iOS and Android this fall. There has been no specific release date announced so far, but the glorious day of coming of the picturesque floating islands of Outcast Odyssey will surely be revealed soon.

And yes, Outcast Odyssey looks absolutely gorgeous, with over 600 cards by a variety of extremely talented fantasy artists, as the trailer lovingly showcases. Every card has parallax effects, and as the cards evolve, so does the visual panache they exhibit. Very cool! Players will control an Outcast and will be able to join and create Guilds.

"The goal was to have a variety of art styles for the cards in Outcast Odyssey,” said Magic Pixel Games Lead Designer, Jonathan Durr. “Chuck Pires, with his vibrant art style, plus Warren Louw and his gorgeous rendering, were exactly the visual game experience that we were after. We were blown away with their contributions to the game and can’t wait to show them off.”

The short teaser embedded below also promises world exploration, PvP battles in an online arena, monster capture and evolution (hmmm...), daily rewards in the form of Bounties, and what seems like a sort of QTE boss fight? Very intrigued by that last bit and the world exploration, myself. Check out the official site for more details!

What are you most looking forward to in Outcast Odyssey? Do you think there's room for another mobile card game to thrive or is this Odyssey doomed to be cast out like a disgraced Mega City Judge and walk the Cursed Earth between floating islands? Sound off in the comments below.
